Pleasure Centered

We all have different values that drive us, money, love/romance, achievement/success, religion, etc. Maybe one of these or another is what you would say is ‘centered’ in your life—the thing that moves you, leads you, and drives you to do the things you do. I don’t believe that any one of these is any better or worse than another.

AND, I believe that if we all centered pleasure—i.e. peace, contentment, maybe even, dare I say, ecstasy, in every moment of our lives, that our lives would look very different than they do now; our futures too! Just think about it; if you were able to take even one day and follow your truest pleasure at every moment, what would that day look like? What would you do? What wouldn’t you do (that you typically do)? How would you feel differently? How would those around you feel differently?

I think many of us fear pleasure for a variety of reasons, and we don't even know it. Even in America’s cinematic culture, violence, war, and death are all far more acceptable and normalized over sex and pleasure. Pleasure feels uncomfortable, it feels dangerous and risky, for some of us these feelings are conscious and for others this may be the first time you are realizing what your relationship is with pleasure. This fear/shame-based voice has been in my head before (and still visits frequently), it says something like, ‘if you only do things that feel good to you all the time, then all you will ever do is sit around, eat fast food and watch Schitt’s Creek.’ (I love fast food guys… and mindless TV). But centering my truest and deepest pleasure as often as I am able has not lead me to that fate, yet.

I am continuously working on living this new pleasure centered life at every moment. Even as I sat down to write this blog, I had a hard time because it did not feel fully pleasurable to me, I have been avoiding for hours now actually. But as I examined my resistance deeper, it was actually based in self-doubt, worry and shame about using my voice and putting myself out there through blogging. I now realize that writing this blog is my truest self’s deep pleasure because I believe my purpose is to help you all live in more pleasure and knowing I'm reaching you gives me that pleasure.

I would love to help you reach a deeply pleasure filled life. I am going to keep talking about pleasure in all its forms--presence, ecstasy/sex, intentionality, acceptance, love, etc.
